Our Annual Container Drive is ON!

Every year we send container full of needed goods to the WWH2H village. This container is loaded by a team in Portland, loaded onto the container ship and the sails all the way down to Puerto Cortes where ultimately our WWH2H Honduran team then receives it and unloads it at the Village.

To rent, ship and pay for the necessary fees, it costs approximately $7000. So starting this month, we are asking if you would please consider donating money to this critical need and in addition, please consider donating items to fill the container. We do ask that all items be in very good or excellent condition or new.

H2H School is now open!

A quality education is the most pressing need for the kids of the Children’s Village – immediately after meeting their basic needs of food, shelter, safety and love. In order to give these children the ability to thrive in the Honduran culture as adults, they need a good education. In the 2011 school year, the local village school was only open 78 of 200 days due to teacher strikes. It has become necessary to step in and fill this gap by opening a school of our own.

We received a generous gift to begin building the new school, and the initial construction began in February of 2012.

We are excited to announce that the school is now done and officially open for the 2012-2013 school year!

Here are some fast facts about the school:

Full K-9^th Grade Bilingual School
8 Classrooms today, designed for future growth tomorrow
Best in-class curriculum “Accelerated Christian Education” (ACE)
Brand new Windows PCs in every classroom and technology room
142 Students! 68 Children from WWH2H, 74 from the surrounding community
School Year: August 27th – June 20th

How you can help:

Please consider sponsoring a child to help them with the monthly school expenses. To pay for the courseware, teachers, facilities, food and uniforms, the cost is approximately $100 per student per month. Please consider giving now.

New Beauty Salon Opens!

The 21st of April will mark the grand opening of the WWH2H Beauty Salon. As we have mentioned in past newsletters,
seven of our teen girls have completed two years of beauty college. We want to continue to provide the opportunity for them to advance and grow, as well as to build up clients in this area who will continue to be their clients for many years to come.

Linda Mancia, a member of our church family and licensed beautician, will be overseeing the beauty school/salon and assisting the girls to build clientele in the area. Our continued vision for this program is that our other girls coming up through the ranks can be trained as beauticians in the years to come, as well as others living in the community and church. Our focus would be to help at-risk youth and single mothers. Please pray for this wonderful opportunity to change and better the lives of many Honduran women.
