Happy Thanksgiving! I am so thankful today for those that went before me to fight for freedoms that I now enjoy, and quite often take for granted. I thank my family for supporting me. I thank God that He bought my salvation through His sacrifice on the cross. I want you to know that today 98 children, in addition to those who have been served and have now moved on, are thanking God today for you. Your prayers and support have changed their lives. We hope to remove even more children from poverty, malnourishment and gang violence and give them the hope God intends them to have. Let’s push on together and be a reason of thanksgiving to a multitude of children!
The news continues to pour in regarding the children that are migrating to the US from Central America. The situation really is dire! WWH2H was called to come to Honduras 16 years ago with the mission to rescue, raise and restore the hurting children of this country. Things were hard then, but now they have once again taken a turn for the worse. We are so thankful for the 98 beautiful children that that will not have to fear those things because God has rescued them, but what can we do for those still out there?
Over the next several months WWH2H will be doing a large fundraising and awareness push. The Serrano family will be traveling throughout the US sharing with as many as will listen to the vision of WWH2H and all that God is doing in Honduras. In November the ministry will be hosting its annual fundraising banquet.
We ask for your help in the following needs:
- We ask for your prayers for us as we travel through the US and share the ministry of WWH2H. Pray that hearts will open and more partners will join together to get even more children out of these perilous situations.
- If you are not currently a supporter of WWH2H we ask that you prayerfully consider how you can help us financially.
- If you currently support this ministry please pray about whether you are able at this time to increase your giving.
- Please share this ministry with your family and friends.
- If you would like us to visit your church or your area please contact the ministry office.
It is for a time such as this that the Lord has sent us into this place to be a light in the darkness and hope to the hopeless. Ultimately we ask you for your continued prayers for the lost and hurting children of this country and throughout Central America. Pray that the Lord will drive the wave of drug trafficking and violence out of this country and that it will soon be known as a place of peace!
To that end we are thankful for other organization such as ourselves that are also out on the front line bringing many kids to safety. This month the children participated in a very unique celebration with all the other children’s homes throughout the area. The day is called Celebration day and is hosted by “Cepudo” or Angels of Hope ministry. It is a special time one day a year when all of the children that are in children’s home come together for games, activities, food and prizes. Over 1000 children gathered in San Pedro Sula and were celebrated. Many of the children meet up with kids that they were once together with when they were in the state run orphanage. The girls even came home with the second place trophy at the soccer competition. Thank you so much to Angels of hope for all that you do all year for our kids, you are a great blessing.
Teen Mentorship Program
We welcome our dear friend Mikaela Gronseth back to Honduras this month. She was a teacher at our school for 1 ½ years, but has returned with a new mission. She is starting the Teen Girl discipleship program at the teen girl’s home. Mikaela will be helping the girls with homework, chores, Bible study and prayer as well as working with them on success strategies for their futures such as: opening bank accounts, driving and career decisions. Please pray for Mikaela as well as the Jordan, G and Alana who are running the Teen boy program in Puerto Cortes. Their jobs are so important. Pray that the anointing of God will be on their lives to press forward and turn the boys to men, the girls to women, and see the will of God be done in their lives. Thank you so much to all four of you. Words can’t express how much we love you and admire what you are doing!
Our Church Anniversary
This past month we celebrated our 8th year of being a church! It was a wonderful celebration that our teens took center stage in. The church was formed 8 years ago when many of our board members did not have a church to go to as their church had disbanded a few years prior. What started out as a small Bible study became what is today a church with over 250 members and each Sunday over one hundred children attend our Sunday school program. Our teens from H2H performed a skit and sang “God of this city” at the end of the service. Alana Ramirez one of our volunteers from the states preached the sermon entitled “greater things are yet to come”. The church has been the extended family of our kids for eight years now. We are very thankful to our members for their love for our kids.
We are thankful to Gary and Sylvia Thacker as they lead another great team made up of old friends and new to victory here in Honduras. The mission of the team was multifaceted. First the team arrived with suitcases filled with beautiful donations of shoes and clothing. The team member worked at the school assisting in the classrooms. The team also helped fill in our flooded playground, rebuild some of the broken playground equipment and install security measures in the homes where our volunteer teachers live and also helped us celebrate 3rd quarter birthdays. Thank you so much to each team member and to Gary and Sylvia for your great sacrificial love that is cause for much thanksgiving!
Finally today I give thanks for our beautiful children, and for all of you. Together we have a beautiful family that stretches across borders, cultures and languages. We are thankful to be privileged to serve here in Honduras. Happy Thanksgiving, may God bless you all.
With love, Amy Serrano
