Annual Banquet

by Kim Stephens

PPT Slide-2Family and Friends — I write to you today to express my heart felt thanks for the wonderful support I received in hosting our Annual Banquet. An event of this size takes so many to make it be successful.

While I could focus on the success of the evening, the wonderful speakers and their hearts to further the Kingdom of God on Earth, instead I want to give a behind the scenes glance. To share about the true nature of the country in which we serve requires bringing a little of the country to you in the form of pictures, videos and testimonies.

Oscar gathered close to 100 pictures of his homeland in various states following the hurricane right up to the current condition. He put together video of some of the most difficult situations the country faces. Not only did he spend countless hours gathering this information, but Mikaela compiled the current bio data on each child. She shopped for all the center piece cups, pens, candy and then packed them to be brought to us. Not a small chore! In addition, she uploaded two videos we played in the fireside room.

Mary’s insight to bring some culture from our children in the form of art, has allowed our children an opportunity to showcase some of their work. This required Mary not only to gather needed art supplies, but to sit the children in an uninterrupted environment to complete over 20 pieces of fine art. All this occurred in Honduras prior to the big event.

On the U.S. side of things, we wanted to bring our long time supporters a picture of a few children and their time at the village. I thought of taking 12-15 children and making a collage of them growing up. Thanks to Amy’s huge photo library, she gathered all of the pictures and three other people compiled them. These three people, namely LeAnne, Debbie, and Margie, decorated the entire room.

I think the evening was topped off when Marlon stepped up and spoke about the effects of your support on his life. Marlon is just one example of saving a child off the streets, putting food in their tummy, clothes on their back , a shelter over their heads, and most importantly the love of Jesus and family in their hearts.

Please accept our thanks once again for partnering with us to save the children of Honduras, one child at a time.
Shalom, Kim
