Friday was an early release day at the High School, so as I’m picking up kids, the principal tells me, “You’ll never guess who was voted to the Homecoming court as Senior Princess today.” Yup, it was Lesly. She really didn’t know what it all meant, so I explained what an honor it was, and she was very happy.
A few days later, Leslie asked to go shopping for a dress. Now, I have no experience at this, but I said, OK and we headed out. After striking out at Shopko, we arrived at JC Penny and immediately came upon some possible options. You know, it’s hard to find a size 3 in the woman’s department in Wisconsin. She chose one she called “red wine” color. She loved it. Shoes and a hair thingy later, we headed home.
Saturday, Martha took Lesly to the Homecoming soccer game. They announced Leslie and the others on Homecoming Court at the halftime, and they lined up at the center of the field. After a salon hairdo and makeup help from Martha, we whisked her off to the dance. Parents were allowed for the presentation of the Homecoming Court and we proudly witnessed the prettiest, and possibly happiest girl in attendance receive the applause and then dance the first dance, with the other court members. My camera was whirring and clicking. Then I took Martha out for dinner before going home to await my call to pick up the beautiful Senior Princess, Lesly Fuentes. She really enjoyed the evening and told us she showed the boys how to swing dance. I was told by another parent how much everyone loves Lesly, and she’s such a nice girl.
So, there you have it. That’s Homecoming weekend in a nutshell. I figured you’d enjoy hearing of Lesly’s successes. She is also working extremely hard at her studies, and is doing very well in school.
