Oscar is reporting the new school will be ready for Open House by June 1st, if all goes well. We plan to invite our parents for a look-see. To all, who by your prayers and support have made this possible, thank you and God bless you. Many of His kids will flourish in this new place! Stay tuned for a more detailed report in next month’s newsletter edition.
Amy has mentioned the 1st quarter birthdays, and the optometry team, so I will not belabor the point, but suffice it to say, God really knows how to look out for His Kids!! Thank you to everyone who are His hands and feet to our ministry.
We also just finished 3rd Partial, and I am so pleased to announce that our kids did well once again. Our staff loves our kids and comes every day to give their best to these children. I thank God for each of them!
Blessed with a visit from four wonderful families from Alameda, California!
Meet Mark and Christie Hunter and their sons; Jessica Miller and Chad Vaughn and their twin daughters; Ed and Phoebe Lin and their daughters; and Suzi and Daniel Owens and their daughter. They found us on the internet when planning their family vacation. Some of the 7 children spent their first education years in Spanish immersion schools in the US. One goal of their vacation was to provide their 7 children, ages 2-6 with opportunities to interact with children their own ages here in Honduras, so they could practice their Spanish. They brought clothing, school supplies and craft activities for our kids. The children spent class time with students their own ages. The families came to the village with games to play and bracelets to make. We are so thankful for them and their willingness to share their time with all of us. We look forward to their next visit!!
1st Annual Science Fair
We had an amazing 1st Annual Science Fair in March dedicated to our Mr. Steve Hauenstein, a volunteer teacher from the Spokane, WA area. He is our “Science Guy” at school and all around good friend to the teens who live at our new property site, which is his home as well. Mr. Saul, who also teaches science at our school, was the fair chairperson. He did a great job, as did our kids and their teachers, investigating ideas using the scientific method and then presenting their findings with models, reports and demonstrations.
