The final week! As I write to you, we are in our final week in the U.S., ending with a bang at our Annual Banquet on November 7th. It has been a tremendous whirlwind of an adventure and as always is such a joy to meet new people and share with them all that God is doing in Honduras. I feel such a deep sense of gratitude for the incredible generosity of so many that we have met along the way. We want to thank all of our dear friends in Virginia, Washington, Oregon, Missouri, Texas, and Louisiana for making this time so unforgettable. So many gave and gave and then gave more! We are overwhelmed at the love that has been poured out to all of our kids.
So as many of you know, we started our new role in the ministry as Directors of Fundraising and Awareness with a campaign last fall when we spent six months in the U.S. During that time, we spoke with thousands of people about H2H and as a result, gained many new sponsors and prayer partners. I think it is only right for me to tell what all has happened ever since more prayer warriors and support teams have joined WWH2H. When we left Honduras in November of 2014, our country was still declared by the U.S. State Department as THE #1 most violent country in the world. We no longer hold that terrible title. In fact, Honduras claims that violent crime in its major cities, San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa, has declined as much as 20 percent! Praise God!
We have also acquired a new piece of property that is very close to our current school, church, and medical/dental clinic. This property was the home of an infamous “rent by the hour” hotel that exploited, prostituted, and abused children. This now is the property of WWH2H ministries and will be a place of restoration for children to the glory of God!!! The land was sold to WWH2H with a no interest rate loan and is being carried by the owner based on what our school in Honduras can pay. We are also raising the funds and are 75 percent of the way to paying a down payment on the land, which is due June 1st 2016. The total amount still needed is $22,000 USD. If you feel that you can help with that, please contact our ministry. Our teen boys have already moved out of their old rented home and are now living in the newly refurbished hotel rooms, as well as our volunteer teachers from the U.S. We plan to expand our school on this property in the future.
And if all of that news isn’t exciting enough, we also began our education and restoration program in Concepcion Del Sur, Honduras in the mountains of Santa Barbara. Each day, 180 children from the poorest parts of the surrounding area come in for Bible study, prayer, and worship, as well as English and computer classes.
We are excited about going back home, with so much work to be done. We are so thankful for the amazing Honduran and American staff that carried the load while we were away. We are blessed!
We can’t say enough for how thankful we are! First to God and to all of you that are loving, praying, and supporting us each day. May God bless you all abundantly above all you can ask or think!
