Josue David has a new lip!!! No more bib!! We are thrilled. This journey began last March when this precious little boy was given to us by INFA, the child protection services in Honduras. We met him in February when we had a Medical Dental Team in Nueva Esparanza, a state-run orphanage in San Pedro Sula. They told us they had surgery planned for him and would let us know when. It did not happen.
In November, we contacted Operation Smile. They were actually thrilled to help!! They put us in contact with surgeon Dr. Guillermo Pena Cabus in San Pedro Sula. A few days later we met with him. By the end of the week the surgery was done. And a week later, we went for the follow-up exam. It was a huge success!! Dr. Cabus wants to see him again in March to see if all is still well. He told us Josue David may need more surgery on his chin in a few years. But for now, it is all systems “Go”!!
