This month you will all be so blessed by Olvin’s story. Olvin is 18 and wise beyond his years, as you will read. He is very humble, but I want you to know (since he would never say it himself) that he is hardworking, a wonderful example to all our kids, and an exceptional big brother! We are so thankful that he, his younger sister Mayra, and brothers Exequiel and Cristian have been chosen to be a part of our Heart to Heart family. Enough from me… Here is what Olvin
has to say. Enjoy!
When I was brought to the Children’s Village, in Tegucigalpita in 2007, my younger sister (my two little brothers arrived later) and I didn’t know anything about God. We didn’t know there was a God who loves us and who cares for us no matter the circumstances in our life, good or bad. I didn’t know that God had big plans for me and for my family.
I have been at the Children’s Village for more than 7 years. I have had a lot of fun and am so thankful for many things. I have learned about God and about the love He has for everyone. I know that there are still many children in Honduras that need help, that need somebody to love them, and that God has plans for them as well.
I have tried many times to get away or distance myself from God, and to find my own solutions to my problems. I found that doing this only made my problems worse. I learned that I need to give God my problems and ask for forgiveness for trying to distance myself from Him.
I am learning English and have been to the United States twice. I am in my last year of high school, and plan to go the university next fall. I really enjoy music. I am very thankful to God and to all the people that take care of me, and for bringing me to a marvelous and beautiful place: Heart to Heart Ministries.
