Happy Valentine’s Day!! It has been a wonderful winter in Honduras!! Some rain, but some actual cool days in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s – perfect for this Northwest Grandma!! We completed our second partial and were thrilled with the good grades our children received.
Visitors and Volunteers
Maddie Green made her way back to us in January. She will be here for almost 2 months helping in the 4th and 5th grade English classes. Ed and Katy Petersen were here for a week helping at the village and the school. Our long-term volunteer, Mercedes Lux got a visit from her mom, Cindy and Grandma Barbara, who helped all week in her 2nd and 3rd grade English classes. Dan and Chris Moore and the 6 graduates of The Leadership Center for Women, a business training ministry here in Honduras, came to visit for a few days. It was wonderful getting to meet these accomplished young women. And last, but not least, we are blessed to welcome Burton and Ashley Weibe, freshly arrived from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to volunteer at the school for at least the rest of the year. To all of you, thank you so much for your obedience to our Father to come help this work in Honduras for His kids!!
Our senior class has taken on the ministry outreach of teaching adults to read. Every Saturday from 8-12, from now until the end of our school year, our seniors go to school and hold literacy classes for people in our community. In addition, they provide a snack for their students. Our kitchen is very busy on Friday nights as they prepare special treats for the class. A VERY special blessing in all of this is our senior, Olvin, who is teaching his mother to read!!!
Our Bible verse at school this month is Matthew 25:35-40. Jesus is speaking, 35 “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?” 40 And the King will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” With this in mind, our student body has decided to do a Prison ministry outreach. They will collect and assemble care packages for each of the prisoners at the Puerto Cortes Prison. If you are able to help us with this, please send your donations to our WWH2H office and our next teams coming will bring the things to us.
