As we celebrate our successes with His Kids, those 170,000 still out there in Honduras who need our help are never far from our minds, hearts, and prayers. Pray with us for them, that many will be brought to H2H this year for love, safety, shelter, education, healthcare, and most of all to know Jesus. Thank you!
This month WWH2H team leaders Gary and Sylvia Thacker brought a wonderful team of volunteers from all over: Texas, Minnesota, Louisiana, New Jersey, Illinois, Indiana, and Oregon. They blessed us with help at the school and the Village and brought funds to do major repairs and renovations on our baby house and the combo gym/chapel/auditorium/ church at the school. The biggest blessing was the relationships they developed with our kids. Thank you so much Susan, Denise, Sharon, Monika, Steve, Philip, Jason and Amanda!! We love you and look forward to seeing you again soon.
A goal of our school is to teach our children to be givers, to be servants, and to show the love of Jesus to those we meet. This year, the 11th grade has begun training for our Literacy Outreach. They do neighborhood surveys and find people in our area who do not know how to read. Then for the next 6 months, the students provide literacy classes every Saturday from 8-12. We also began the Christmas Basket Fundraising contest between the grades to see who can raise the most money to provide food for families in need in our area. Last Christmas we provided baskets to 41 families. Our goal is to do 50 this year! Additionally, each week our staff draws names of children to pray for all week. As we lift our kids up to our Father each day, we are beginning to see changes in them. There are several students who we saw far too frequently in our discipline room last year, who have not once been to visit this year!! Thank you, Jesus!
Mercedes is Back
Longtime H2H friend and volunteer Mercedes Lux is back to volunteer for another year!! Her main focus is helping with our girls at the village, where she is living. However, she filled in for 3 weeks in our 4th grade classroom at school, while we were looking for a new teacher there. Her energy and pure love for our kids is so needed and appreciated! Welcome home, Mercedes!!!
This Partial Miss Luisa, our Librarian, ran a contest to see which class read the most books. Our 5th Grade won the honor!! Way to go, 5th Grade!!
