Continuing this month, we are giving you some insights about some of our children so you can learn more about them, highlight their accomplishments and successes as the Lord moves them along the path of their lives.
Elder is 14 and in 6th grade. He is very shy and quiet, but his humor and wit aren’t lacking by any means. When asked what he thought people should know about him, he said, “That I am a good person.” That is indeed true. Elder rarely ever complains, and when he is asked to do a task he simply accepts it and does what he is told. Even though he is quiet, he has a wisdom, creativity and confidence that people, especially the younger boys look up to and admire.
At this point he is not sure what he wants to be when he grows up, but since he really likes animals he is thinking he might like to be a veterinarian. He also enjoys science and his favorite part about science is doing experiments. Elder’s favorite color is green and his favorite soccer team is Real Madrid. He is a great younger (albeit bigger) brother to his sister Marisol and his brother Juan. God certainly has great plans for this quiet yet confident young man.
Luis came to live at Heart to Heart with his 4 sisters just over a year ago. He is a wonderful brother and just adores his sisters. He likes them because, “they are pretty and they are very special to me.” Luis not only has a big heart for his sisters, but loves everyone with whom he comes in contact. When he gets off the bus each morning at school, he is quick to greet everyone with a big smile and hug. He doesn’t want anyone to miss out on being properly greeted.
Luis is in first grade and is 8 years old. He certainly has a bright future ahead of him. He is thinking he might like to be a policeman when he grows up, but he still has plenty of time to decide. Luis likes living at the Village, because his mom can come and visit. One of his hopes is that “more people will come and live with us at the Village.” With dreams and a heart like this, a bright, God-paved future is ahead of him.
When first asked what people should know about her, she replied, “Nothing.” This illustrates her sense-of-humor perfectly, although once she started thinking of things she just kept going and going! One of the things she is most proud of is that this past summer she cut off 14 inches of her hair and donated it to Locks-of-Love. She is a giver, and looks for opportunities to help others.
Ilcy is 16 and in 10th grade. She loves snakes and playing soccer. Her favorite people are her two brothers Nelson and Adonis. She loves being a big sister because “I have the best brothers in the world.” Ilcy enjoys school, and has a knack for memorizing things. She successfully memorizes entire chapters of the Bible in English in just a matter of hours. She hasn’t pinned down a career, but really likes animals, so maybe a veterinarian or a pet groomer. However, dentistry is also a high possibility. She also would really like to participate in the World Race someday. She says, “I will live for a hundred more years,” so with that going for her, her down-to-earth personality, and God by her side she will be able to accomplish many wonderful and beautiful things in her lifetime.
