Continuing this month, we are giving you some insights about some of our children so you can learn more about them, highlight their accomplishments and successes as the Lord moves them along the path of their lives.
He is a delightful young man and it has been a joy to raise him here at the village. Christopher is the embodiment of a gentle peaceful spirit. His life however, has not been easy. He has battled illness all of his life and lost both his parents to illness. However Cristopher has a deep faith in God that assures him that God is in control of everything. Recently at summer camp Cristopher had an accident were he suffered bad burns on his leg. However within 3 weeks Cristopher was back to normal activities. The doctors said it was miraculous.
I would like to be a doctor and work in Puerto Cortes because I want to help the people of this community. I am really inspired by people like Oscar Serrano and Mary Frenter because they could have done any-thing with their lives, yet they came down here to help us. I feel like I found a real family when I came to H2H. I’m not on my own. I am so thankful to everyone that prays for me and believes in me, even people that I have not met. I want to be an inspiration to the youth and an encouragement to them to keep their trust in God and work hard in school.
He has been named by visiting teams as “the friendliest kid at the village”. Carlos refuses to speak Spanish with you if he knows you speak English. And the truth is, those that know him will tell you he is a really charming young man. Carlos is a fantastic big brother to his own brother Isaac who has downs syndrome, but also to scores of younger kids at the village. While being interviewed today, he had his arm around Diana, one of the smaller kids at the village. As he talked and told his story, the love he was showing Diana said more about him that what he related in words. He truly is a big brother to many in our Village.
I want to help people with my life and that is how I want to serve God. Wherever anyone needs help I want to be there to help them. One of the people that inspire me the most is my friend Trecy. She was here recently on a team and I think she is a great person. I love art, drawing and painting. I like to draw when I am bored and right away I am happy. One day I want to be an artist for a living, and hope to bless a lot of people with my art.
She comes from a very remote part of Honduras that is only accessible by boat. Karla Iveth came with her three older sisters back in 2007 from La Mosquitia. Karla has spent most of her life at the village and said during her quinceañera speech that she wants to be part of the village in some way for the rest of her life. She is a great athlete and a person to be feared on the soccer field. Karla’s heart is huge and her dreams are big!
I want to be a mom one day and have a husband that loves God. I want to be a doctor and travel around the world. I want to help other kids like me when I grow up. One of the things that I want to do is somehow help H2H in the future. If God blesses me and I am able to make money I want to help the kids growing up at H2H.
