Continuing this month, we are giving you some insights about some of our children so you can learn more about them, highlight their accomplishments and successes as the Lord moves them along the path of their lives.
Ana is full of zest for life and not the least bit shy. Even though she has faced darkness in her life, she has seen the light and God is doing great things in her and through her. She is daring to dream again and is putting a lot of effort into this new school year. She is currently 12 years old and in 5th grade. Ana is very smart and hard working. When you ask her what her favorite subject is in school she will tell you, “I love word building.” Her English is very good and the secret to her success is she is not afraid. She recently performed a dance at school with her class.
She says, “I like to sing and dance. It makes me happy!” Greater things are yet to come for Ana and she has a very bright future ahead of her. She is provided nice clothing, healthy food, a great education and a loving environment; and the sky is the limit to what God can do. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, she flashes one of her huge radiant smiles and says, “I would like to be a doctor and help people, the way people have helped me.”
This is Ana’s verse and she is a living declaration of what this scripture talks about:
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you”.
Blanca has a sweet spirit about her. She is a quiet leader, and many of the little girls look up to her. She is only 7, but acts wise beyond her years. When asked what her favorite subject is she says, “I really like working with numbers in Math.” To hear that, brings joy to our hearts because at the beginning of this year she was struggling with some of the math concepts. She had started to close up and distance herself, but little by little, she is beginning to open up.
She started to ask questions and not be afraid that she didn’t know the answers. She has grown from a shy little girl to now raising her hand and participating in class. She is kind, loving and beautiful from the inside out. She is a precious flower that continues to blossom right before our eyes.
This is Blanca’s verse. She is walking this out every day:
1 Timothy 4:12
“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young, be an example to all believers in what you say, in your love, your faith, and your purity”.
Nicole is spunky and full of energy. She doesn’t hesitate to speak her mind. Her hair describes her personality the best: crazy and cute. Nicole is making huge leaps and bounds this year. She made the honor roll for her first quarter grades. Her favorite color is red. Her favorite sport is soccer or “futbol” as we say here in Honduras.
When Nicole was asked what she likes to do in her free time she said with a smile, “I like to sing.” Nicole has already had a chance to perform one song with her class in front of the school and thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole school is currently practicing for our huge Christmas Program and is eagerly anticipating seeing Nicole up front and center, unashamedly singing with her class. She is one of a kind. God has set her free and she is being raised in an environment where originality is encouraged and uniqueness is a positive thing.
Nicole’s verse is:
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”.
