The public school system is very inadequate, due to constant teacher strikes. The year our children were able to attend 78 days of the 200 required each year, 2010, was the year we began planning to build our own private English Immersion School. Next to a knowledge of Jesus Christ, we believe education is the most important gift we can give our children. So, in the fall of 2012, we opened our bilingual school for preschool through high school in Puerto Cortes.
The kids are now thriving at the school, learning all the core materials, as well as, actively learning English. Three to four years ago, most of the kids could barely speak any English, if at all. Now, all the kids are speaking English with more proficiency each year! Thanks to some generous donations from Microsoft, the school has a state-of-the-art computer lab where they are learning valuable computer skills.
Heart to Heart oversees all aspects of the school from the building, to maintenance, to coordinating the teachers/volunteers, as well as the year-to-year curriculum, for the kids. We are always looking for volunteers to come down for a while. If you do, you will probably have one of the biggest learning experiences of your life! For more information, please contact us.
This is our “old” school that opened in August 2012. We quickly outgrew the small half-acre campus, and opened our new 3-acre campus a block away in August of 2016. Here we have a large covered gym/ stage, and our own soccer field. The old campus is currently the home of a pilot project – the H2H Spanish High School Program for grades 7-12. All classes are taught in Spanish, except one period a day of ESL.
